What a show

Favourite moment: So many, the chicken head, the blue jumpsuit with stars, the dancing, Sufjan's commentary, the horn section, on and on from start to finish. @
Opening act(s): A couple of nice songs amongst a set delivered with little style or appeal. Would have been nice if just once the audience was acknowledged. @

Wasn't too sure if I would enjoy the show, having been a fan of Illinoise, the Age of Adz was a very difficult CD for me to like. I came away from the show completely blown away. It was entertainment at it's best. The visual experience brought this style of music to life for me, it was uniquely original, moving, funny, and the audience were invited to be part of the show. Sufjan has a great presence and his stories and commentary made for a very personalised experience. The band was very tight with special mention to the two drummers, the horn section and the ladies.
Sufjan constumes on the night, reminded me of Peter Gabriel's early Genesys days, now that is showing my age and the range of Sufjan's appeal.

Best concert of my life, period. The light show, the projection show, the costumes, the band, the balloon drop and of course, the music, were flawless.

Went along initially with some uncertainty as I was more familiar with Steven's work and not really tuned into his new musical directions. But I was converted, from the first burst of noise.
An extraordinary mix of mix,visuals and stage antics. He also came across as such an affable and likeable person, and his band was pretty damn terrific (especially the two female singer/dancers).
Challenging and exciting music, in a world which appears dominated by tired old groups, retreading too familiar songlists.
A cheerful crowd too, even though primarily in a younger demographic than myself ;-)

I've seen hundreds of concerts and would rate this as one of the very best I've been to. The sound was superb, the stage show creative (and even funnny at times), but it was the music that blew me away. ... and he came across as a nice guy, so 'self effacing' :)
