You asked me to review the event after I went and "watched". Well, I didn't watch so much as take part in an evening that was absolutely magic. The audience were encouraged to contribute from the get go and we all sang along. Elbow were brilliant. I'm hoping they keep their promise to return to New Zealand as Manchester is a long way to go.

Boy and the Bear were good, too. For an Australian band, anyway. No, seriously, they are talented and we have listened to them online since.

Great sound and great engagement with the crowd. They really played well to the audience and interacted with them.

The venue was good. Easy to get a drink. Very relaxed and good sound. Intimate and able to see the band up close.

Boy and Bear opened and they were great. Elbow were fantastic - interacted with the crowd. Sang great music and looked like they were really enjoying themselves as well. Would def see them next time they are here

I saw the Thursday night show. the support band bear and boy were worth seeing aside from elbow. Elbow ran throught a great set. Their sing along choruses and lead singer Guy Garveys lovely-cheeky personality warmed everyone present. He singled out a guy in the audience named NIck who kept shouting out reqests; heckling him back and dedicating station approach to him thanks to Nicks enthusiam and Guy's notice of what he was requesting. Best concert i've evr been to.

This was probably the best live show that I have seen for a very long time. Elbow gave a spellbinding and magical performance .From the first haunting notes of "The Birds" to the last rousing song "One Day like This' Elbow had us enthralled. It was great to see them in such an intimate venue. Come back soon Elbow!

They came, they played and they then played again. I saw them on the second night and although Guys' voice showing a bit of strain from the previous nights gig it was still a delight and thoroughly entertaining. Certainingly not a packed house but those of us there were treated to an intimate occasion. Great evening!

Had a very enjoyable and civilized night out at the Powerstation. Elbow were everything that I had hoped for loud, serene, soulful and above all, joyful. The venue was intimate enough to feel a bit like a great party at a mate's house (except for the overpriced drinks). An appreciative crowd of like-minded fans made for a great environment, and the sound and air temperature were spot on. My only grizzle would be the stage lighting, which left the sides and back in darkness so that I could not see all the band, really only the lead singer and pianist were visible, and not always.

Boy and Bear were a great opener. I think I was one of the only ones who knew their music, and had a great time boogying.

But Elbow were just something else. Amazing performance from Guy - he's an amazing singer and also great at working the crowd.

I couldn't have asked for a better concert.

I first saw Elbow Live in 2001 when they supported the doves at London's famous Astoria.
They blew me away that night and have been my fav live act ever since.
I know that few in NZ know who Elbow are, but I am sure that a few more do now. Their music is sublime, it takes you too on a journey that is like a grail.
Their sound is so large it always fills the room. The performance is always perfect and rely's on nothing more than the music, no light shows or dancers to fill a void.
They are at the top of their game and they have made my year so far, hope they return asap.
Elbow are simply Amazing. x

Had only learned about Elbow recently but am now an Elbow convert after seeing them live. The concert had everything you could hope for: great music and singing, laughs and banter from frontman and some good sing-alongs. Thinking about the concert still puts a smile on my dial.

Got dragged to this by my daughter. Great show! Both bands were very accomplished musicians who played nice songs real nice. Loved it! Elbow front man was a bit of a hard case. Boy and Bear was a worthy and talented support act.

Elbow were as fantastic as I knew they would be. Wonderful songs. It was nice to see a group of people that get on so well. I have listened to them for years and they did not disappoint. Guy said they would come back. I do hope so.

A little bit of Manchester magic arrived on our shores for two nights at the Powerstation. A really excellent night's music, the audience were clearly big fans of the boys and were very appreciative from the first note to the very last. Elbow came across as a very tight knit unit with a lot of warmth and humour from singer and frontman Guy Garvey who has one of the best voices around. I do wonder however, at the very vocal small minority who insisted on having full on conversations throughout the set ... Even Guy Garvey asked for the chat to be toned down at one stage whilst singing two numbers just accompanied by the keyboard player – seems quite strange that some people would shell out money to see a top -class act and then treat it like a night at the local pub. Overall a great night and glad to have had the opportunity to see them in a small venue - I have a feeling next time they come it will be at a bigger concert arena. Five stars!

Amazing! First of all the support act Boy and Bear were unexpectedly excellent! I had never heard of them but enjoyed it so much I've already downloaded their music. Elbow were as expected awesome. I've seen them before at a much bigger venue in the UK but to see them in such an intimate place in comparison was great. Soaring vocals and Guy Garvey held the crowd in the palm of his hand. Wonderful audience participation finale of 'One day like this' was spine tingling.
