I have seen these guys play 5 times now (4 x times with the full band and once as a DJ set.) What always amazes me as how they keep re-inventing their sound and how talented all the musicians are they source over the years.
This event was no different and they produced a polished new sound that was similar to the 80's music I used to see live at the old Powerstation back in the 80's. The "New Aramada" as Findlay put it, both looks and sounds cutting edge! Well that was until the technical probelms began.
About half way into the 3rd song the Mid section dropped out and most the vocals sounded flat against the bass and treble. Things got worse for the PA when the whole lot went down right at the beggining of "Superstyling" when the crowd was fully hyped up to party. This casued some kind of powercut for the next 15mins everyone was in darkness (the irony is the venue is called the Powerstation!)
It was hard to come back from this but the band dug deep and pulled out some of the classics to keep the show going, all went down well by the crowd who by now were in meltdown mode from the crazy heat inside the building!
The PA didn't sound quite right and it's a shame to see such a favourite and talented band falling victim to a less than talented sound system, I only hope BDO Friday will treat them right.
