My Mum and I went to "NZ Symphony Orchestra with Frankie Stevens - Christmas Pops" in Rotorua. I would have to say we were really disappointed. I don't know where Christmas came from, only four Xmas songs were played in the 1st hr. I was expecting the whole show to be xmas songs, not classical songs. You couldn't even hear alot of the instruments such as the piano. Then when Frankie Stevens sung the four Xmas carols, you couldn't hear the music at all, he was way to overpowering for the music. It was also annoying with Frankie Stevens talking all the time, telling his little "stories". They should have just played music.
When half time came, the orchestra just got up and walked off. There was no announcement of an interval or nothing. So for people like us who did not buy a program, we did not know if the show was over or what. We learnt it was half time, and decided the show was not as expected and left. The way it was advertised was made out to be Christmas songs played by the orchestra, not classical music.
