Favourite moment: Chatting to some people after the concert as we waited for transport. Antics by band members. Hearing how many people were from out of Auckland. @

The concert was enjoyable. It's nice to be able to go to the Saturday night concert and not have ones ear drums assulted, I did hear that the Friday night may have been abit more of an issue. Down side was perhaps Andre looked abit tired. I wouldn't have like to have been on the ground floor, as I'm not sure how much people could see & feel that the venue wasn't the best for this type of concert and should only be used as a sport stadium. The concert was predicible, but still very enjoyable. Would have been nice to have abit more of a NZ theme, eg John Clark's "Were would we be".

Andre Rieu is a fantastic showman, musician, conducter, and the show was just fantastic. However, was very disappointed in the programme - at $25 it was very expensive, great glossy photos, good information about Andre and his 30 years in 'show business', bur there were obviously several pages missing!? There was no mention whatsoever of the orchestra, the instruments, the tenors, the sopranos etc. So, how do we go about getting a replacement programme or our $25 back?

We where lucky to go both nights to the show we thought that the audiance on sunday was more involved,
we think that the vector arena is not good for the sound for a show like this,
but I have to say the shows for me rocked I'm stil smilling.

The music was fabulous and Andre was charming..... The singers and orchestra were great. But the whole thing lacked the spark!

We were one of the very few young couples who attended the night and we had very high expectations having seen his overseas performances on DVDs. We paid 350 per ticket and was grossly disappointed with the seats we got. Most of the time I had to watch from the big screen. The concert lacked the magic and we came home with no special memories.

High expectations

We are mature fans of Andre. Attended with friends (a 76 year old and his daughter) who agreed with this review. We have most of his DVD's. This performance was disappointing and predictable and lacked excitement and new choreography. The first half selection was "ho-hum" and the inclusion of Michael Jacksons song was inappropriate and out of context of the music scores available and the extraordinary talent of his orchestra. The encores were too contrived but, of course, great listening and one felt it was a bit of damage control.
The TV screens on either side of the stage could have been better utilised by having each programmed with different side shows with the splendour and artistic value of scenes perhaps from the more sophisticated world performances. Not good value for money.

Overall, a little dissapointed. We paid $199.00 per seat which felt should have given us a good view but were on row 35 which meant had to watch on the screens as couldn't see anything directly, was like being at home watching the show on DVD. Certainly would not go to next years performance unless there were improvements. Also found the temporary seating was very uncomfortable for someone who has a back problem.

we were very impressed with the whole show. My wife was not to happy about the high seating but I found that good as I was able to see a lot more.Thats something that we will have to work on for next time we come to a show. I was very impressed with the ease of finding the door to go in and the seating.

Absolutely Amazing. I was spell bound for the entire performance. To watch the couples get up and dance bought tears to my eyes. Lovely.

Very disappointed. Price similar to Melbourne but do not match in any way. Long half time. Lacked the Andre flair. Would not go back to Vector arena to similar show again. Most people were from out of Auckland so why not hold in Wellington for example where we travelled from

This an event not to be missed, the music was fabulous the singers exceptional , he does it so well right from the march down the aisle to the many, many, finales! I like the way he personalizes his concert by including Kiwiana into his repertoire and his communication with the audience. This show was not as majestic as some of those on his DVD's but it had all the right ingredients to make this a night to remember. I bought tickets on the ground floor of the arena so we could not see all the activities as well as those sitting upstairs but it was great postioning for the benefit of the sounds of the orchestra and the singing. We had the benefit of two large screens so that we were kept involved with the "antics" of the orchestra. All in all a wonderful night!

Have to say we have mixed feelings about this concert. There were some stunning moments, especially the singers, whose voices were so much more resonant and stirring in a live situation. However, the size of the venue meant that even with $200 tickets, we were at the back of the arena, and all of the performers were just tiny figures at a distance, so it was hard to feel a part of it. Of course, the large screens enable close-ups, but this just adds to the feeling that you're still watching one of the DVDs.

Am disappointed that the audience who were nearest the stage and on the flat of the arena only seemed to "get going" and join in, after the balloons came down towards the last half hour, but perhaps the music chosen for the many encores was the kind they'd been waiting for.

Overall, looking at the costs of travelling from Christchurch, ticket prices, accommodation, plus the distance from the stage, we would rate it as an enjoyable (if expensive) experience, but not a great one, and we wouldn't do it again. Will stick with the DVDs for the "wow" factor, unfortunately. Could he consider a different venue, or even the South Island, as suggested by other reviewers here??

A wonderful, magical, emotional evening. Andre and his orchestra brought such warmth and such a special atmosphere to the theatre. I laughed and I cried and couldn't help the tears in my eyes and the lump in my throat. Truly a Night to Remember! I am so pleased to hear that Andre will be back again in 2010.

Excellent show. Lovely to see entertainers obviously enjoying them selves even though most of is staged for our benefit. Only negitive was that the volume for the singers was too much, but vocalist in the orchestra could have had a little more volume. Vocal tribute to Michael Jackson was absolutely hidious, excess probably didn't help. Having said that I will be the first in line for another Andre Rieu shows.

We have been fans for a mere two years, since a friend lent a DVD. We now have quite a selection of our own, the discs are great, but seeing a live performance was an unbelievable experience. We feel the stage could have been slightly larger to allow easier movement for the choir and dancers. It would be good to have a programme sheet listing the selections for the evening, not a flash expensive thing, just the details of what the items were and who performed them.

It was really good, not much youth appreciate this type of music. I am 39 and did loved it. Andre is really special and I love the way that he has put the classical music back to stage, with all that energy, I hope that he could captivate more youth after honoured Michael Jackson. Now, My only dissapointment is that in Australia the "tour" is different, with an outstanding stage and lots bigger(maybe I should go there to watch that quality of work?).
I certainly think that Andre shoul do 3 presentations. One in Auckland, other in Wellington and finally in Christchurch. It would be outstanding (weather permiting) to do one in a place like Larnach castle, something with tradition. Anyways I do believe that the australian soprano did an outstanding job with pokareareana. Everybody did drop a tear.
