Brilliant!!!!!! Great concert!
Musically wonderful as per usual but I did miss John’s conversations and jokes with the audience that he has had with us in the past. Although I don’t suppose he was able to get a word in edge wise over the girl in the row behind me who insisted on screaming “I love you John” every 2 seconds!!
I was especially proud of our crowd for the first time ever at a John Mayer concert! We have seemed to be the shy type for past events but there was no holding back this time, go us! Loved the atmosphere!
Now, back to the music! John’s vocal ability is amazing and his guitar playing intoxicating. The chords and riffs this guy can play, woo! Fantastic! I loved the change up of the melody and timing on a couple of songs, most notably ‘Friends, lovers or nothing’ brilliantly done and the back up singers really made it special.
The band was well rehearsed and the backing vocalists spot on and energetic, dancing and waving at the crowd! all in all a good set up.
It was a great night, highly recommended you see John Mayer live, beautiful music, massive energy, one you wont forget in a hurry!

I'm a big fan of John Mayer since the beginning, so I was very impatient to attend to this concert.
Even if it was a good concert (the playlist was great and the sound amazing) it wasn't THE concert that I Waited for. He did its songs and that's it. It was not an unbelievable concert.
I had the feeling that john mayer became more a lover than a guitar hero. He was very apply to play the songs of his new album (which il more dedicated to the young ladies than the blues guitar fans) and more relax, and sometimes too much (he did mistakes on two songs which is quiet disappointing for such a great profesionnel musician)when he played the old ones.
He didn't do any guitar solo except on the last song, gravity, the only song of the night which was really great.
The rest of the songs were OK but too close from the CD versions.
So I enjoyed the show but john mayer can do so much better (ex: the LA live), specially when he plays "his guitar" on blues songs, that I was a little disappointed.

I really enjoyed John Mayer as he is a quality musician who sounds just as good live as on his CD's. The only thing I would have liked was a longer concert! It seemed to go quickly and was hoping for 'Good Love is On the Way' but I guess that is more of a trio song anyway.

Great event, love John Mayer and have done since his first single came out. The only annoying part was the screaming girls (especially when he was trying to talk) and all the people going up the aisle to try and get closer to the front. Allocated seating is for a reason people.....

Thoroughly enjoyed the show!!! Knew he was a great guitar player but Wow!!! Lots of songs i knew....just a great night....loved the covers of the Fleetwood mac songs

It was a great intimate show. Great sounds and lighting. Unlike anything i've being to before and I would go again in a heartbeat. fully recommend it to others for all age groups.

The man has talent to burn and showed this with his relaxed and easy presence. Powerful rendition of what he can do on his very many guitars (guitars were changed after every song) and with his vocals. The band was also very professional. Some of the old favourites were changed, the tempo lifted to breathtaking speed. Only downside was being seated on the side directly in line with black wiring running from the ceiling to floor obstructing a clean view of the artist. Pleased I attended, was a privilege to see such a world class performer who I have followed and admired for many years.

Found the background musicians were too loud and drowned out John's voice and his voice wasn't that clear as you hear on his CD's.
There was no big video screen and there were no programmes for sale.

To be honest, the seating wasn't a great idea, John Mayer does have a couple of cruizy songs but all the young people just wanted to dance. it would have been better if it there were no seats, a nice big mosh pit and seating on the wings if people wanted to sit.
BUT there is no doubting that John Mayer was amazing, from his checkered pants to his roger federra do, his guitar playing was amazing, his voice was so damn sexy and his passion was obvious.
LOVED JOHN MAYER, wasn't too hot about the seating arrangements.
Also, opening band Lisa Crawley and The Conversation were amazing, can they do their own show?

The John Mayer concert was an example of how a polished musician demonstrates his talent - 1st class! The best illustration of how good this concert was was the audience participation. They were rocking from start to finish.

I went with no expectations and was simply blown away. His guitar skills were well and truly out there and his band were really impressive. It was one of the best performances I have seen in a long time. Good on ya John. My friends, who came with reservations, I am pleased to say are now converts.

I've been intrigued with John Mayer since hearing his first album. Very accessable and melodic acoustic tones with clever lyrics, although firmly entrenched in the gushing teenage girl/ middleage housewife camp (not necessarily through any fault of his own) Could he play electric though? After seeing his performance on Clapton's Crossroads DVD with the Hendrixish jam I was impressed. Then seeing his own live DVD I was blown away.....so make my way to the gig on Wednesday night. Good seats and a chance to see him up close. No doubt he can play the guitar. Did he need a different one for every song when only playing an 80 minute (too short) set is another question. He unashamedly (some would say) rips off other great guitarists. Taking a leaf out of Jeff Beck's book last year who used the same Strat the whole show, Mayer could have squeezed in another four to five songs- appropriate when you heard some of the murmurings of what he didn't play afterwards. I thought probably the first five or so songs suffered from sound problems which seemed to come right after the nice acoustic interlude of No Such Thing. After this the show was much more enjoyable. Loved the closing with Gravity- some of his most scorching guitar work. I thought the band was a little cliched- the backing vocals another attempt to imitate some other great blues/rock gigs of the past- but those two weren't up to much. On the other hand the interplay between the instruments was quite special at times. All in all an ok gig. I was left feeling a little short changed but would probably see him again.

I love John Mayer and his voice didn't disapoint. However it would have been nice if there was a giant tv screen so I could see his face:( All I could see was those random checked pants he was wearing. The lighting etc were pretty boring.
Was excited to hear some of my favourite songs from him but a little sad I didn't hear some of the goodies (don't trust myself, who do u love etc). Still it was a great show and would definately go again if he comes back to NZ!

Boy that man has talent! Not only are his lyrics thought-provoking, romantic, soulful, but his ability to play guitar is breath-taking! John Mayer put on a fantastic performance and I felt that the effort of me travelling up to Auckland from the South Island and the price of the tickets was WELL worth it. John played many of the songs from his new album Heartbreak Warfare (which I have really loved having on CD and so knew them well), as well as many of his best known songs from his previous albums. He seems to get totally wrapped up in his music when performing and it was wonderful to watch the expressions on his face as he played. Accompanied by his incredibly talented band, together they rocked the Arena!

pretty sweet i payed 100 bucks for my ticket two days before the show, i was 30 meters out from the stage, right in the middle, SSSIIIIIICCCCKKK!!!!!!

We really enjoyed the concert (I had taken my sons) - excellent - but were wondering how the song list is determined. I understand that this was a 'promotional' tour and hence would expect to hear the bulk of the songs on the new album (which we have and have lisetened to a number of times) but not performing 'assassin' which in my opinion is by far the best track is a major oversight.
Also, I wonder sometimes if the artist realise that their fan base have come to enjoy some older hits that made them so popular. This would be in his interest to play some of these to entertain and absorb the crowd. I suggest, Neon, back to you, 3x5, man on the side, city love, covered in rain etc and I know there are many to choose from but the top hits will always go down well.
For me, this would rank up my list of shows but still have Tommy Emmanuel at the top so far...............
