Absolutely stunning night of musical mastery from the brothers Emmanuel, not to mention relative Jesse of the next generation.

Tommy, ever the master entertainer as well as master musician, was perfectly foiled by his older & no less accomplished sibling, who's depth of presence sometimes eclipsed that of his brother.

However it was Tommy who owned the stage & exquisite versions of his keynotes; Classical Gas, The Journey & Guitar Boogie sewed up the night. Phil's equally present version of Beethoven's Ode to Joy (albeit using an arrangement following the Apollo 100 rendition) was slightly dimmed by a poor EQ from the sound desk (little more tops & less mids methinks).

Jesse Emmanuel showed that the next generation is hot on the heels of the esteemed brothers although I have to say I was hoping for more challenging lyrics. She projects as someone who has something to say & her messages stopped a little short of where they could have been. That said, hear hear on her stance re: boozing.

All in all a fabulous night & watching these guys strut their only serves to remind this 50 year old guitar pretender that no matter how good you think you are, there will always be a couple of Emmanuels to bring you back to earth.

It was wonderful to experience this amazing player live on stage. Listening to the sound effects Tommy Emmanuel creates on his Maton guitars and seeing the enjoyment he obviously gets from playing, made it an evening to remember. He offered a mixture of soothing sounds together with energetic loud, forceful and artful styles – even bending the neck of the guitar. Unbelievable! He is the most innovative of players, coaxing (often whacking!) his guitar and making sounds I previously imagined were reserved for percussion only. Go Tommy! Thanks for coming to town.

We had an absolutely memorable night - top class entertainment - inspiring - truly talented performer - it was an honour to view his performance. The meal was excellent and highly organised. All round a great night.

This is the 8th or 9th time I've seen / heard Tommy and he never ceases to amaze me. He's entertaining, engaging and an absolute master of the guitar! My wife & kids ( 13 & 15) loved also! Everyone must see & hear the best guitarist on this planet!

We really enjoyed this event. The guitar playing was fantastic and inspiring, in fact almost impossible to believe if we hadn't seen it with our own eyes. Would go again if he comes back to New Zealand and have already told lots of friends about it. Bought the DVD.

My husband had seen Tommy Emmanuel perform years ago, but I'd never heard of him. I'd definitely see him again, and would recommend his shows to anyone. He's a very entertaining guitarist and performs his own music and covers. We really enjoyed it.

Tommy Emmanuel just gets better and better. Saw him twice years ago in his home country (Oz), but haven't seen him for a while since he's been living/touring over the other side of the world. The stories are more interesting, the singing has improved (thankfully), but that's all just a side-show to what is important: the music. Just superb! He takes playing that stringed box (guitar) to a whole new level!

You really have to see this guy live to appreciate how incredible he is ! His is not the sort of show that would suit a large stadium though - the Bruce Mason Centre was the perfect sized venue for such a performer. The whole experience, including his talking to the audience, felt very personal.

I had never been to see Tommy live before. I absolutely LOVED it - I smiled, laughed, was blown away and left the concert musically satisfied a feeling just fine =)

Tommy Emmanuel is the best guitarist entertainer in the world. He held my undevided attention for the whole show - not many solo guitarists can do that! Tommy is always a great show, you won't regret seeing him.

The energy that Tommy exudes in his performance is keenly felt. He embraces the audience and delivers a masterclass in acoustic guitar. I would see him again everytime........even though I have only 1 of his albums...ie not a mad fan!

Tommy Emmanuel never ceases to amaze with his command of his instrument . It seems that he plays SO fast and with such skill.........just because he can.. The earlier influence provided by Chet Atkins is evident in some of his styling and a few bars of 'Trambone' and 'Girlfriend of the Whirling Dervish"sneaked into one of his renditions and it was pleasing to hear later that he considered Chet to be his 'Second father' after explaining that he lost his birth father at such an early age.
Tommy's ' Drum' virtuosity ,where he simulates a full drum kit solo using just his hands and his guitar, is quite amazing in it's complexity .If it was not personally experienced this performance would hardly be believable.
Is he the best guitarist in the world ? ....one could be forgiven for thinking so!
I came away from this concert shaking my head in disbelief at what I had just experienced ! Leaving the concert hall I was not surprised to notice many familiar faces,faces of many professional guitarists and musicians who simply could not miss an opportunity to see the maestro once again deliver on all counts. This entertainer has extraordinary skill and stamina . Only ONE Tommy Emmanuel may come along in a lifetime . I am grateful he came along in mine .

What can one say about the show - absolutely stunning. A rare mix of world class talent combined with humour and a feeling that he's playing just for you !

You end up feeling that you've been watching him in his lounge, listening to his wonderful journey through life, and that the show should just keep going and going....

If you want to see the very best, and get the chance to see Tommy - GO.....or forever miss out on guitar perfection !!

This guy never ceases to amaze me. What he does is truely outstanding and an inspiration to any guitarist. Absolutely well worth the travelling and night away just to see his magic!! My wife had her first "Tommy" experience and enjoyed every minute. Another fan to add to the list!!
