What a truly magical evening in the presence of not one, but two singer/songwriter legends of folk/rock. If ever there was a dream concert for the '50-somethings', this was it! With a playlist consisting of hit after hit, we were not disappointed. Carole King virtually emptied out the entire 'Tapestry' basket with several other hits such as Jazzman and covers of her songs by artists such as Hi-de-ho and Locomotion, all in that distinctive earthy, husky voice. JT, with that beautiful voice still as clear as a bell after all these years and his signature acoustic guitar kept the punters happy with Carolina in my mind, Fire & Rain, Sweet Baby James, Mexico, Shower the People, How Sweet it is, amongst others. But of course the highlights were those songs that they had both covered such as the crowd favourite, You've Got a Friend and Up on a Roof. But for me you couldn't beat the encore of You Can Close Your Eyes, two voices, two stools, and a guitar. With his original band from the 60s/70s (Leland Sklar, Danny Kortchmar no less), what a dream team! We left still humming and very happy indeed, but also knowing that we probably may never see these two in concert again.
