My Partner and I were on holiday in New York and planned to go to the gig months in advance as we had very much enjoyed the gig in Christchurch NZ after the New tide album was released in 2009 .
Unfortunatyely we were greated with the news at the start of the gig that Ben (lead vocalist/vocal glue) could not sing and that left us with vocals only from Ian and Tom. This affected the repetoire and also the whole vibe of the gig and the energy of the band seemed well down. In essence it was hugely disapponting. Gutted even.
This followed on from a last minute change in support act as well although the guy that fronted was pretty good.

I've been a fan of Gomez for years but this is the first time I've seen them live and I wasn't disappointed. Now I can't wait to see them again. They were brilliant.

It was good to see this venue in use although I didn`t think the sound was that great, maybe due to the shape of the roof?
The Chills were good but Gomez were fantastic, I could tell this was their first gig as they were full of energy, played lots of their new album and some of their old tunes, a few more of their old stuff would have topped the night, I first saw them a couple of years ago at The Civic, hard to compare as last time they didn`t have a new album, so all tunes were known!
A great gig and can`t wait till they play Christchurch again! Great to see good bands coming so far!

Superior sound, wicked range of old, new and the odd cover. Loved that they were loving doing their thing, too. Eclectic audience made the whole thing work even better. Fab way to spend a Sunday night in Auckland. Don't want to miss the next one. Lived up to expectations from when I saw them 8 years ago, so not disappointed at all.

Gomez played an amazing show, absolutley brilliant. These guys are sensational musicians who manage to take their complex and diverse studio sound and deliver it bigger and better live. I think Ben Ottewell has one of the best modern voices - outstanding!!

I have to say that the last few gigs I've attended at the powerstation have left me feeling a bit ripped off and dissapointed; both Dizzy and De la Soul finished far too soon, constantly promoting an after party. Thankfully the same cannot be said for the Gomez set on Sunday night.
The band played a great mix of some of their old classics and new tracks off "A New Tide", their must buy new album. The crowd couldn't get enough, and when the band whipped out Whipping Picaddily as the finale of the encoure, the roof practically lifted off the place.
Good on you Gomez, you've made a Yorkshire lad very happy. Come back soon!

The sound was too loud and could not here the magic that Gomez has with the sound scapes they create. I think the venue has problems with sound a big brick box with saw tooth roof really made for an ear cruncher of a night. Not helped by some drunken fan. Shouting incessantly here comes the breeze in ones ear. But there were moments of magic too. It was good to hear songs off the new album too. The songs are still growing on me.
