Absolutely superb evening of Kiwi music ... too many tickets sold for size of venue, incredibly squashed. One friend couldn't even get into the room so left early on :-(

Nairobi Trio were good but forgettable - didn't help that only two of their members showed up. Peter Urlich Sextet started off great and became amazing, until the hipster crowd took over the floor and made life uncomfortable for those of us who were less hip. Some awesome moments when they cranked through the classics, definitely worth it for that.

Unbelievably small venue.
Impossible for all ticket holders to fit in the front bar room show area.
Sure there was another room at the back with screens but that is not why you go to a live show. Graham Brazier gave the impression he wasn't with it at times. I give the show a thumbs down. Overall Fair to Poor is how I rate it.

The Feelers and the Kurt Shanks Band were excellent, however, I was disappointed with the venue.
I attended the same gig two years ago and it didn't seem to be such a crush of people.
Two years ago a platform was built across the seats on the right hand side which gave two seperate areas for viewing, either on the platform or on the floor. I was on the platform and found it quite easy to get down to get to the bar and I didn't feel that I was being pushed around, had drinks spilt on me continually and had my feet trodden on the whole time.
I am not sure that there weren't more people admitted this year, but it was very uncomfortable and I would think twice about attending next year if it were to be the same.
I liked the red room out the back and thought that it was a nice touch that you could talk to the artists.
It is a great idea to hold small intimate gigs, but i think this time there were too many people admitted which spoilt the experience for me.

"Hollie Smith was great, although she was pretty drunk I think, and performed superbly despite being very sick.
I couldn't understand a word she said when she was talking, and it would have been good to get her to sign the 3 Cd's I bought of hers from the bar but she left quickly.
Great voice though. Guitarist was really good.
Pity people can't smoke in bars anymore as the smoke would have added some cool bluesy atmosphere.
Would have been good to have a band as the songs are much better with the cool accompanying music.
Seth Haapu was very good - will definitely look round to buy his music.

Seth was great, set the bar fairly high. He was engaging and entertaining and brought a little bit of his living room to the event by playing with his brother and cousin. Very good.
Hollie was amazing vocally but was not very engaging. In fact she seemed quite shy. It would have been far more enjoyable had she entertained the crowd as well as just singing. Overall I found her performance a little lack lustre and boring.
Great venue and love the Kiwi music month overall.

I have been to a lot of gigs in my time and have to say this is one of the best I have been to. The Feelers are such a polished band and their style of music really suited the intimate atmosphere of The Whiskey. I have been raving about the gig to anyone who will listen. The Feelers are much more than a polished act though - they are musically brilliant and have an amazing stage presence. I am looking forward to seeing them again.

Venue was too small (or to put it another way, they sold too many tickets to fit in the venue). And the music was way too loud. If you like things that way then fine. Had to leave partway through for these reasons.

Great evening at the Whiskey Bar with fantastic sets from both Holly Smith and Seth Haapu. The small intimate venue worked well for both artists although the ignorant incessant chatter of a few, who appeared from the VIP room at the start of the first of two sets by Holly Smith, detracted somewhat from the overall enjoyment.
Seth Haapu is a fantastic talent and one to watch out for.
Its such a shame that both these artists don't see more air time on NZ radio rather than the dirge of American 'pop' artists that seem to fill the airwaves. When will NZ wake up to the great musical talent that it has to offer and push it to the fore?

Entertaining night with two very talented ladies. Great venue for up close and personal viewing and excellent sound. Hats off to The Whiskey for creating such an intimate venue and getting such great acts. Anika Moa is outrageous and funny and oh so talented. Lydia Cole has a sublime voice. Will definitely go to anothr gig here.

I actually went to see Barnaby Weir and didn't even know who LA Mitchell was. Suffice it to say that after the show I'm an LA Mitchell fan. She had such a great time singing to the crowd and dancing on the bar...tons of energy, great sense of humour and totally down to earth. Great performance all around. Have to say that Barnaby Weir was a bit disappointing playing acoustically and probably would have been more interesting with a band.

I had never experienced the Whisky bar before tonight and having seen the pics on line I knew it was a small place but ...my ..talk about an intimate venue to see a band....it was like watching them in your lounge!
Bic luckily, is the size of a matchstick as her and her excellent musos filled the smallest stage in Auckland to belt out a tight set of old with a taster of the new album tunes...
It was a good thing they have serving staff fighting thier way through the crowd to keep your drinks coming otherwise you would never get to the bar for refills ..

Loved the venue, it was a great night probably because it wasn't sold out it made it like a bunch of mates getting together in your own lounge. Lisa - great songstress and musician, will be getting her CD. Dave McCartney exceeded expectations. Would have like to have heard "Julia". Dave joined by Dianne Swann on vocals and guitar, an accomplished violinist and a percussionist which was great in this small venue. Staff at the venue well matched to the event.

These two guys are amazing singer/songwriters. Johnny and his side kick have AMZING guitar skills and I would highly recommend these singers to everyone to go along and see if they are around your area! I do not like the venue at all as it is too small ('intimate' doesn't mean all standing squashed together - not good if you are short or stuck next to some drunk and rude people who want to talk all the way through an artist perfromance). However, already had booked tickets to some more of the gigs there so off I will go! Cudos to the bar owners though for supporting NZ music!

I nearly turned up late for the Nathan Haines act at The Whiskey - thinking I didn't really need to see Seth Hapu. Luckily I changed my mind and decided to get there in time to get a seat. Thank goodness or I would have missed a stunning performance by this extremely talented new singer/song writer. His wonderful voice and memorable tunes left me wanting more than the short set. Look out for his forthcoming CD. Nathan and his band were of course up to expectations - they are all experienced and dedicated musicians at the top of their game - a total pleasure to hear them in such an intimate venue.

Thomas Oliver Band had a tough time playing in cramped conditions. However The Red Suns rocked on the small stage and could have been the main act. A lack of slide paying and amplification left me feeling like i was short changed by TOB.
Baby I'll Play was notably absent from the play list which was disappointing.
All in all though a great show.
