Entertaining night with two very talented ladies. Great venue for up close and personal viewing and excellent sound. Hats off to The Whiskey for creating such an intimate venue and getting such great acts. Anika Moa is outrageous and funny and oh so talented. Lydia Cole has a sublime voice. Will definitely go to anothr gig here.

I actually went to see Barnaby Weir and didn't even know who LA Mitchell was. Suffice it to say that after the show I'm an LA Mitchell fan. She had such a great time singing to the crowd and dancing on the bar...tons of energy, great sense of humour and totally down to earth. Great performance all around. Have to say that Barnaby Weir was a bit disappointing playing acoustically and probably would have been more interesting with a band.

I had never experienced the Whisky bar before tonight and having seen the pics on line I knew it was a small place but ...my ..talk about an intimate venue to see a band....it was like watching them in your lounge!
Bic luckily, is the size of a matchstick as her and her excellent musos filled the smallest stage in Auckland to belt out a tight set of old with a taster of the new album tunes...
It was a good thing they have serving staff fighting thier way through the crowd to keep your drinks coming otherwise you would never get to the bar for refills ..

Hello Sailor were excellent. The first support act were also very good. The bar was packed as it is really small. The drinks were very expensive.

Loved the venue, it was a great night probably because it wasn't sold out it made it like a bunch of mates getting together in your own lounge. Lisa - great songstress and musician, will be getting her CD. Dave McCartney exceeded expectations. Would have like to have heard "Julia". Dave joined by Dianne Swann on vocals and guitar, an accomplished violinist and a percussionist which was great in this small venue. Staff at the venue well matched to the event.

These two guys are amazing singer/songwriters. Johnny and his side kick have AMZING guitar skills and I would highly recommend these singers to everyone to go along and see if they are around your area! I do not like the venue at all as it is too small ('intimate' doesn't mean all standing squashed together - not good if you are short or stuck next to some drunk and rude people who want to talk all the way through an artist perfromance). However, already had booked tickets to some more of the gigs there so off I will go! Cudos to the bar owners though for supporting NZ music!

I nearly turned up late for the Nathan Haines act at The Whiskey - thinking I didn't really need to see Seth Hapu. Luckily I changed my mind and decided to get there in time to get a seat. Thank goodness or I would have missed a stunning performance by this extremely talented new singer/song writer. His wonderful voice and memorable tunes left me wanting more than the short set. Look out for his forthcoming CD. Nathan and his band were of course up to expectations - they are all experienced and dedicated musicians at the top of their game - a total pleasure to hear them in such an intimate venue.

Thomas Oliver Band had a tough time playing in cramped conditions. However The Red Suns rocked on the small stage and could have been the main act. A lack of slide paying and amplification left me feeling like i was short changed by TOB.
Baby I'll Play was notably absent from the play list which was disappointing.
All in all though a great show.
