From the opening notes on Saturday night, the air of expectation in the Bruce Mason Theatre was papable, and "To Christchurch with Love" certainly made one feel the love. The line up of talent from Hawkesby & Bailey as hosts, to Paul Potts with his rendition of 'The Prayer' with Elizabeth Marvelly was unforgetable. Marvelly, along with Kate Ward-Smythe deserve huge accolades for arranging a truly marvellous evening. Who could forget Tim Beveridge with his rendition of 'The Anthem' from Chess, or Jackie Clarke singing 'If you go away'. Not to mention Reilly Hodson & Jim Aimer, stars of the future and equally amazing Goldenhorse with 'Maybe Tomorrow'. This was indeed a star turnout and the love sent to the tune of $150,000 showed just how generous we Aucklanders can be. I would pay double for a repeat performance. Well done to Bruce Mason theatre for providing the venue - thanks for the memories.

What a brilliant performance from such a line up of talented New Zealanders and the amazing Paul Potts. Elizabeth Marvelly has the voice of an angel and is an inspirational and caring young lady.The NZSO were truly sensational throughout. A fantastic evening had by all.

Overall the show was very good. The NZSO performed with distinction and the artists sang their hearts out.
It seems there were some technical issues as some songs seemed louder than others and too loud for the size of the venue.
For the main artist to have traveled so many miles and be named the headline act, but only perform two numbers was rather disappointing. It would have been a real treat to hear Mr Potts perform a few more numbers and show us his talent, range and repertoire he is renown for.
All in aid of a good cause, the show made for a pleasant and entertaining evening.

I thoroughly enjoyed the evening. The music was excellent, artists all into the cause and the reason for the event was prominent throughout encouraging further contributions. Well done to Elizabeth Marvely and her support team and huge appreciation to all of the people who so willingly gave their time.

What a great night. We applaud all the entertainers who took part in aid of the Christchurch appeal as well as all the other volunteers who gave their services for the night.
Paul Potts was to be commended for even turning up after an afternoon/evening in hospital.
A thoroughly enjoyable show with fabulous music and singing.

NZSO was magnificent to say the least . We particularly enjoyed Paul potts ,Malvina
Major ,Elizabeth Marveley and the boy sapranoes. The hosts for the evening did a wonderful job and it ws good to see Len Brown doing his bit for Auckland . A pity that
John Key couldn't make it , although I guess he is a busy man at his job. I never found out how much his letter of apology fetched at the silent auction !
My only complaint would be that there was not enough bar staff at the foyer bar before the event . Waiting 20 minutes to be served is unacceptable. We have been to several
events at Bruce Mason Centre over the years and have always encountered the same problem.

My husband and I had a fabulous evening! It was a wonderful variety show - everybody was brilliant! Songs were carefully selected to blend in with the theme: support and compassion for Christchurch. Great idea to have pictures of this tragedy on the big sreens. Wonderful to finish with the National Anthem.

A wonderful night out. New Zealand has amazing talent and for the artists to come together and give of their time for Christchurch was fantastic.
It was great to hear Paul Potts - a shame we couldn't have had another song or two from him.
It was well compered by John Hawkesby and Judy Bailey - they haven't lost their touch.
All in all we were very glad we crossed the bridge for this Christchurch fundraiser. Well done Elizabeth Marvelley!

My husband and I found the whole concert thoroughly enjoyable. He made the comment that it was one of the best of its type he had ever been to.
We thought that every act was great, hard to pick a winner as they were all fantastic. The Ladykillers version of Bohemian Rhapsody was as good as Queen's - those girls voices really suited it.
Of course Paul Potts was incredible but we were expecting that. The lovely surprise of the evening was Elizabeth Marvelly. I had heard her after a Paul Holmes interview but hearing her live was wonderful. The Boy Soprano's were beautiful.
I have only mentioned a few here - every act was as good as these.
Thank you for a great concert and we were only too pleased to be able to help in the fundraising.
I am hoping that you have made a copy of it because that could be another way of fund raising. I think many concert goers would be very happy to buy it and have the memories again and after the Sunday programme last night, I think you might have many other New Zealanders wanting to buy it as well.

What a fantastic concert. Every performer was outstanding and the NZSO as always sublime. John Hawkesbury was so full of himself and kept yelling which he did not need to do as he had a microphone. His stories were all about himself and how great he was and who he knew. I was with 5 other people and they all thought the same. It must be hard for Judy to have to work with him. The other presenters were great.
Thanks for all the time and work involved for putting on this concert - I would be there again in a hearbeat.

What an amazing night! We went totally not knowing what to expect but came away so uplifted. We were in Christchurch for the earthquake, and our home in Redcliffs has suffered quite a lot of damage. Days pass and things still feel quite sureal, but Saturday night lifted our spirits no end. What an amazing evening....from the opening moment to the very end it was totally world class. We can all be very proud of our NZ artists, both the young and not so young they gave of their precious time to help a city at it's lowest, and what amazing result. Together they gave us a night to remember. The NZ Symphony Orchestra conducted by Hamish McKeich - what can we say but awsome
Thank you to everyone who made the evening possible, and especially to the very tallented Elizabeth Marvelly for having the idea to bring the talent together and seeing it through.

Some artists just did not need a microphone. The sound system was over-cooked, distorting many of the singers. John Hawkesby doesn't need to shout when holding a microphone! Ray Woolf just blew us away with his power and clarity! Overall, an enjoyable concert with a great feel-good factor.

A special thanks to Elizabeth for the idea and more especially to all who organised and took part in a fabulous evening of music. To Paul Potts, who traveled a long way only to become sick then thrill us all with his performance was truley amazing.

It would have been great to have heard a little more from Elizabeth Marvelly and Paul Potts, but what we had was fantastic. The NZSO are SOOOO versatile. Good to see John H and Judy B togethor again. Robyn Malcolm's as a speaker was quite heartwarming. Having a mixture of classical and pop music I am sure met the expectations of some of the younger audience. The overhead projections of images from Christchurch's devastation made the evening more poinient. Very impressed that Paul Potts dedicated his last song to the Nursing staff of North Shore Hospital and in particular the Charge Nurse from ICU who lost his mum in the CTV building.
