This was a very good performance with clever switches by just three actors. Entertaining, informative and enlightening about a painter who had great courage to venture off into a world where woman on their own were not deemed 'safe', to follow her passion for life and capture it on canvas.
Her passion and talent is now recognised and to have this insight into her private life delivered with such professionalism (as well as having fun) was enlightening.

There is always so much to learn about the artistic and cultural history of New Zealand contributors and this play reveals a driven, adventurous, focussed and eccentric artist for whom it is the art only that is important.
This is a great play, acted well by the three cast, giving diverse performances for the different characters they play. The transition between characters, between times and between countries was seemless, believable and easy to follow.
I thoroughly enjoyed the performance, a piece of history but entertainment in its own right.

This hour was a fascinating introduction to someone I had never heard of and now will search out for both the writing and the music. It was a complete surprise and a glimpse of the strange journeys that his books seem to be taking us on.

It was absolutely brilliant. Two very talented young actors who performed a variety of different characters seamlessly with great pathos and humour. This was a truly remarkable performance

This has to be one of the best pieces of Kiwi musical theatre I've ever seen. My partner and I were blown away by the immense skill of the two actors, the outstanding strength of their voices and the compelling storyline of the play.
My partner does not usually enjoy musical theatre but he loved this! We would both see it again and recommend it to everyone we know.

Favourite moment: I loved that scene on the fishing boat--- you could really see and tell that they were in a fishing baot and that it was speeding away! @

The stage play itself was amazing! I can't say anything bad about the actors, props, lighting and sound effects. Minimalism at it's best!
I loved the actors playing varoius roles and the transition from one character to another was brilliant!
The only not-so-nice comment would be that the doors didn't open in time- about 15-20 late but it was worth the wait!
Bravo to the cast and crew!

I try and get to all the Maori plays that come to Tamaki Makaurau. This was no exception!
Jamie McCaskill (as a co writer of this play and actor) and Kali Kopae (featuring her original waiata and actor). The pair of them were on stage for 80 minutes moving in and out of several actors, telling a beautiful story of love, music and life's choices.
Very few props were used but this did not hinder the play, it strengthened the story allowing audience members to visualize each scene.
Unfortunately, a common disappointment with Maori theatre is that the season is always so short.

It was a terribly wet, windy night and we almost stayed at home but are we glad we went.. We spent a wonderful evening being entertained by two very talented actors with impressive singing voices - 80 minutes of heaven. He Reo Aroha is brilliant and I can't wait for more of the same from Kali Kopae and Jamie McCaskill.
