We were visiting New York from New Zealand and I selected 9 to 5 for our group to see before we left NZ. I was the only member of the group who had regularly been to musicals in the West End, Broadway, Australia and NZ and I was nervous about selecting a show for the group to see that would appeal to the varying range of ages (22 to 61) in our group. After seeing Dolly Parton talking to David Letterman and perform "Backwards Barbie" on the "Late Show" I decided to book 9 to 5.
Well I need not have worried as the show was a hit with everyone and the others are still talking about it after returning home to NZ.
The music and lyrics were great, it was obvious that they were the work of the consummate professional - Dolly Parton and what a brilliant cast. The direction and choreography were top class. This show is as good if not better than other top shows such as the Producer and Chicago. A must see in my opinion!
