Tutus on tour was very enjoyable overall and it was a wonderful experience.. Just a couple of things. The first act was a hit because of the amazing costumes.. all traditional tutus, tiarias and sparkles. But it was 10 minutes too long. Without a story to follow it started to seem a bit too much of the same. The humour was lovely but got a bit old.So many children in the audience - they had started to wriggle and lose interest. Have some lollies on hand ready to carry them through that last 10 minutes
Pinnochio was marvellous. Plenty to keep the childrens attention throughout.
the question and answer session afterwards was wonderful - but the male and female ballerinas needed to have some answers ready. They seemed a little ill prepared. Maybe they could practice questions and answers a bit for a fun engaging response. My suggestion would be to try to respond to please your audience. When a child asks what your favourite ballet is. They most likely want to know if you prefer sleeping beauty to swan lake. They won't connect to a contemporary dance by some choreographer we haven't heard of. Because a ballet has a lot of jumps, or is a really hard one to learn, or that you love the costumes.... will resonate more with the children.
Still it was great fun for the children to see the dancers up close and personal.
Thank you for a wonderful show .
Ps: We felt fleeced by the icecream seller outside in the lobby.
