Wow !!!!! The kids of Auckland are definatley talented what an amazing event. It was my first time at a smoke free rock quest I took along my 13 year old budding musician what a fantastic night out. For $18 each got a full day pass including the finals. My son was impressed that artists from previous years were there to encourage and give advice. The only thing that was disappointing was the lack of people there ! C'mon Auckland Support our up coming star's . Go NZ Music !

Favourite moment: Watching my daughter Morgan performing with her band Unsolved Youth. Hitting those high notes was amazing! @

The venue was terrific, the performances great. Easy access in and out of the theatre. Sometimes the sound quality of the vocalists was not so good but over all enjoyed the whole evening. However, for the bands that got through to the regional final 8 - some feedback from the judges I feel would have benefited the bands in becoming better musicians.

The night started out with a fun local band of teenagers, playing for a mixed audience of two-third teenagers, and one-third parents and other interested parties.
It showcased what amazing talent there is lurking in our schools - very enjoyable evening (apart from Bang Bang Eche - They demonstrated how a little success has made them predicatably boorish).
The school bands and two single acts rocked the Powerstation - great venue.

The Venue was perfect - setup well and organised. The Security was controlled but not in your face at all. The 2 guys doing all the hosting were sweet as, keeping the show rocking along without taking the show over from the performers. Having the freebee stuff was hot and definitely helped encouraged some crowd whooping. Liked the option of drinks and the upstairs area sorted. Food may have been more - but hey, we got pizza after so it's all good.
As for the talent we have here - amazing! To be a judge must of been mad. My favourite were def the Mt Maunganui Band - the 2 teens I took to see our talent pool agreed.
Perhaps more mainstream advertising, a couple of the bands had their schools behind them big time, yet a few of the performers had their families and mates - shame because this was a relatively cheap night out, excellent entertainment and easy access with a real feel safe attitude about it. Perfect type of entertainment that we keep looking for - for our high school kids. I say more, may be even have those finalists available to do a couple more shows after, people would buy tickets in advance on the night because the night rocked and they be hyped for more.
To finish off with either a performance from the winner or from the band with the winning single would have been sweet as well - after all, isn't that what they do on the box?

Being an old bird, I thought I'd be right out of place at Rock Quest - but I had a ball and all the bands were great. The seating was comfortable and the youngins had fun up the front dancing away and headbanging.
