Opening act was very average and did little to set the mood. After a long wait, MGMT came out. Their live sound was awesome, very grungy meet indie meet electric - truly unique. I enjoyed the slightly different take on some of the songs from Oracular Spectacular, the extra long guitar solos they did had a very psychedelic feel to them.
MGMT's stage presence is very low key, unpretentious, authentic and down-to-earth, they focus on the music and not on crazy stage antics (like most commercial bands). I know some people have complained about this but I appreciated it - I went to see them live for their music not for an act they do on stage. Considering the band that they are, I don't think it would suit them to talk to or try to work the crowd up much more than they did.
They are a truly talented bunch, and it was nice to see them with a band as well (band is just as talented as Andrew and Ben). I loved the songs from their new album, can't wait to but it. It definitely sounded more psychedelic and less pop than Oracular Spectacular, so that's good news in my book.
The only downside was the sound quality, which is probably a venue problem - too much bass booming and reverberating which interfered with the music...

Favourite moment: Live version of The Handshake - quite different from the recorded one (in a good way) with a mad guitar solo and awesome rhythm. @
Opening act(s): Surf City - very average, if not boring... Vocals were far from impressive, could hardly hear the lead singer's voice. @
