Accompanied by his trusty and well worn guitars Newton took over The Juice bar on Tuesday night, after seeing him once before I had a fair idea of what to expect but he out did himself. At times it felt like there were 2 or 3 other musicians on stage with his amazing guitar playing that includes rhythm percussion on the guitar itself. His funny stories kept a great flow and personal feel to the show and overall a superb show by a superb artist.

Sometimes you have an idea what a gig is going to be like before you get there, sometimes it's just as you expect - sometimes its worse. In my opinion Newton Faulkner could not do a bad job entertaining if he tried! he gave an absolute fantastic gig on Tuesday night, far better than any audience could have expected! Newton appeared up-beat and on form giving the audience a fantastic performance with a side of comedy!
Starting with an intro that immediately encapsulates the audience he then burst in to the fantastic tune, 'I need something' a start that left the audience wanting more, to which he did not let down! He varied performances between both albums, not only the popular releases but also the more unique that illustrate his immense guitar talent and on stage presence. He found time in the gig to pause and chat with the audience about experimental songs he had played through his career keeping the audience fully entertained with renditions of 'you spin me round', the Ice age film theme tune-'on my way' and with 'No diggity' being a personal favourite
His use of other mediums throughout his performance was another great highlight-playing keyboard [amazingly] with his feet, using his guitar to project a synthesizer type voice and playing a video of himself doing the melodical part of 'lipstick jungle' was a brilliant thing to watch.
Newton should be playing in-front of hundreds of thousands of people with the talent and showmanship he has, however the fact it was a small event it made it so much more extraordinary. Getting to meet him and chat to him after the gig was a massive bonus, he's just as down to earth as you would expect him to be - what a guy! Would recommend to all!

Newton Faulkner is a unique artist and a contemporary "one man band". Highly recommended. Drinks at the Juice Bar are rather pricey though!

What a down to earth person. What you see is what you get and what you get is an amazingly talented, entertaining person. Here is a man that can not only make a guitar 'sing', make an audience laugh, write his own material and hit the highs and lows with his vocal chords, he does it in such an unpretentious way and with seemingly little effort. I wondered if he would sound as good live as he does on his recordings and I was not disappointed, he sounded even better , if that's possible. Didn't get chance to see him when I lived in the UK so was 'made-up' when I was able to go to the Juice Bar. Fantastic night, will definately be going again next time he's in NZ.

Newton was friggin amazing! Performed for just on two hours which is awesome.
Such a funny guy who interacted with the crowd all the time. Amazing talent switching guitars , playing the guitarlele, using his feet. His voice is beautiful and he sounds just like he does on CD. Lighting, camerawork and screen stuff cool too.
Thorughly enjoyed his show would go see him again and again and again

The venue was good with easy access to bar and food. Newton was awesome, he kept the audience captivated and involved at all times, which combined with his amazing voice, charisma and entertainment skills made for a fantastic gig !

I love Newton. This is the second time I have seen him live, once before in Edinburgh. I think he is the best live preformer ever. So talented and really puts on a show!!,

Newton set the mood quickly with his trademark intro before ensuring he had everyone's attention by blowing us away with "Badman", which he begins by battering his acoustic guitar taking the need for a percussionist completely out of the equation. Faulkner the comedian kept us intrigued with as much conversation as music including the use of a powerpoint presentation (with pie-charts) and by using the audience as background singers. A faultless show which left me mesmerised....for a second time! Fantastic!

My two friends and I very much enjoyed listening to Newton. He is very charismatic and entertaining and a fantastic musician.
unfortunately the event was full of people who had very limited knowledge of his music and showed very little enthusiasm.
Overall though we would definately make the trip to see him perform again.
