We had an excellent time at Raggas.....Love love love Lauryn Hill, regardless of the fact that she remixed her songs...just shows how talented and truely creative she is. Couldn't believe people were walking out during her set....Im embarrased to be a NZ'r when our people behave that way. The sound people mucked things up badly.
For the money we paid for Coruba Gold Lounge, I expected a bit more. A make shift bar with 3 very young and inexperienced bar staff made for a long wait at the bar on several occasions.
Young staff don't use their initiative and chose to chat to customers rather than keep the line moving. And the bar wasn't very well stocked. No steinlager - and its made here - whats up with that? Also very expensive.
It was great having access to the grandstand.
It was interesting that none of the International stars went to the VIP lounge, but it didn't really cater to them. I felt like we were at a local sports clubrooms.
All in all the highlights of the day were Tomorrow People, Herbs, Ali Campbell, Toots & the Maytals and of course, Lauryn Hill. I think Lauryn should come back and have her own show which only her fans will attend.
Raggamuffin should be moved to Taranaki to the Bowl of Brooklands where Womad is held - the best outdoor venue in the Country.
