While I was most impressed by Justin Townes Earle's endearing command of the stage, I was less than happy with the members of the audience who talked (and even shouted) through his entire set.. While the mezzanine area was officially closed, there were some disruptive souls who had gained access to it, and abused the privilege of being there. JTE remained the consummate professional and carried on singing up a storm, but I could see it was disruptive to his concentration. (If they preferred talking to their mates, there are plenty of pubs in the area they could have spent their evening! Those of us there for the music would have given our biggest cheer of the night for their removal). How about some concert etiquette!
That said, Justin Townes Earle was amazing; with a very minimal stage set (one table, 4 bottles of water and 2 towels!), he demanded attention, with his stage-shuffling and hammering guitar picking. The first time I saw JTE he performed solo, but his very talented fiddle player added extra interest to his already unique stage presence.
Apologies for the rudeness of the talkers, but the rest of us really enjoyed the show.
