Favourite moment: Rudi Wulf's 2nd try, good work by the forwards then a fine offload from the exciting Ranger to Wulf . @

Last home game of the season,a local derby, coming off a big win against the Lions, the scene was set for the Blues to finish well after a disappointing season.
With the rebuilding of Eden Park its always good to get in to Ticketmaster early to get your tickets and when you see another full house in the reduced capacity, its good to walk up with your pre printed tickets and find your seat, ready to enjoy the evening.
Heavy rain in the afternoon softened up the paddock, and a good Autumn evening in Auckland made the prospects of a good open game a good possibility. The usual fireworks, The Sky City Cheerleaders and an explosive entrance for the players always sets a good tone to the night.
The understrenghth chiefs were under pressure right from the start, it was only the off night of Stephen Bretts boot, and some resolute defence that kept the early score down, until Paul Williams and the fine Benson-Stanely who gave the Blues a deserved first half lead of 12-6 .
The Blues continued to push forward at the start of the 2nd half and were rewarded with some well worked tries to push the lead up. Mathewson, one of the stand outs of the night stole through after some good work by the forwards, along with the nimble Wulf having another good night dotting down 2 fines tries, aided by some good work by Ranger in offlaoading on the 2nd one. Some loose marking spoiled the night for the Blues late on to let the hard working Meesam and winger Tokula in for soft converted tries to make it a bit less miserable on the short journey home for a tired Chiefs team, who must be glad the season is over. 30-20 final score.
The Blues have some positives to take after the last 2 games. Looking back over the season, a bad 2nd Half against the Caines, along with a wee bit of luck and stonger defence in a couple of earlier games against the Warritahs Stormers and Cheetahs and The Blues season would have looked a lot better. Great wins against the Bulls Brumbies and Reds should have given them enough confidence to see them through the season, but inconsistencey was there downfall, but hopefully Par Lam will have seen enough to be positive about next seasons Super 15 .
Overall , not the best rugby game this season, but the enthusiastic Eden Park crowd have probably seen enough to be looking forward to next year, with the Backs in full flow, Toeava, Big Joe, Wulf, McCallister, Benson Stanely, along with Brett and Mathewson it is a formidable back line, and with our Äll Blacks in the pack and the likes of Kilpatrick and McCartney getting some good game time it does look brighter .

Bought the tickets for my son and his mates instead of having a 15th birthday party and they had a lot of fun. Good clean fun and everyone enjoyed themselves!

Well run event but seats only just "covered"

Favourite moment: When the vocal and slightly aggro Chiefs supporters in front of us packed up and left early because they weren't winning. @

It was a fairly full house at the game but everything still seemed to run smoothly. e.g. it was quick and easy getting into the venue and to the seats, the queues for the drinks and toilets weren't too bad. Our seats were supposed to be covered but I think that if it had rained we may have thought otherwise - we were just under the roof line which is very high, just a bit of wind and we would have been soaked. It wasn't a problem on the night but I don't think seats in the front of the ASB silver section should be sold as covered. Otherwise all good.

Blues vs Chiefs - typical end-of-season open but messy meaningless match.
Ground wrong shape for rugby/football - spactators too far from pitch due to oval shape of ground.
No atmosphere from Auckland fans. Chiefs fans better-at least, they bring cowbells.
A sporting event should be like going to the Colisseum. This was like going to the morgue. All designed for TV. Even if some singing ever started, it would be drowned out by recorded music that is played at any break in play where, otherwise, the fans might interact.
I sat next to a family who said it would have cost them $55 to attend the same game in Hamilton, but had cost them $150 in Auckland.
With no atmosphere, it's just not worth it.

we came up from tauranga stayed down town by waterfront caught train to game with freinds from walkworth and enjoyed the overall feeling at stadium rugby wasnt a high skilled game by any means but was to be exspected by the way both teams have performed this year but im sure they will bounce back did get to see some really good tries thou in between all the handling errors, i personally think some of these boys need to get real jobs that create a mental toughness that is lacking in nz rugby, and maybe a little less time in front of the mirror, coming from a guy who has loved and played rugby for over 20 years in the machine house where if your not mental tough as well as physically tough you will have any team run over you.stilled enjoyed thou and yes we still have our tough southern boys in the playoffs.whero.johnson.

was abit boring actually but i thinks thats because they are neighbouring teams. i reckon the stormers and blues was the most exciting game this yr at eden pk venue. the stormers supporters came everywhere from out of the woodworks which made the blues supporters go harder than usual!

Blues could have put 50 points past the less than impresive chiefs, only Leonard showed any class for the visitors, Blues looked stong exept for the kicking!!! you know who you are, Woodcock man of the match for me dominant again.

Seats were great with having a kid with us. Little balls thrown into the crowd for the little ones. Best of all rain jackets were handed out when it started raining.
very good event!
